Ballarat is home to some of Australia’s most historically significant cultural venues including Her Majesty’s Theatre, Civic Hall and the Mining Exchange. City of Ballarat’s freshly formed Cultural Venues team is embarking on exciting period of change and growth. In late 2024, Victoria’s oldest theatre is re-opening for its 150th anniversary after multiple stages of revitalisation, Civic Hall is returning to its live music touring roots and the Mining Exchange is being re-imagined for the future as a destination for art, performance, design, food, wine and more. The Role: We are looking for a customer focused player who is driven by detail and continuous improvement to take on a key role in coordinating commercial operations across the three iconic venues. This critical role will be the engine room of event, financial, administrative and reporting delivery processes and procedures across the Commercial and Visitor Experience work area. It is a critical functional support role to the entire Cultural Venues Team and clients. This is an opportunity for a process-driven team player who has worked in arts/entertainment or hospitality venues or festivals in an operations coordination capacity. This challenging and rewarding role will work cooperatively across the Economy and Experience Division to support achieving a high level of venue utilisation, exceptional customer/client experience and operational functionality. Key Selection Criteria: - Qualifications and experience as per the position description
- Demonstrated ability to champion, model and promote corporate values.
- Demonstrated experience in venues operational delivery in an arts/culture and/or festivals environment.
- Experience in communication, conflict resolution and dealing with difficult customers
- High level ability to prioritise workload, manage competing tasks and work collaboratively in a high pressure environment
- Demonstrated experience in developing and improving processes that enable exceptional customer experience and efficiency.
- Demonstrated skills in financial and contract administration including financial reconciliation, invoices, incoming and outgoing financial transactions.
- Proficient in the use of computer software including Microsoft office and venue based enterprise systems including point of sale, venue management, rostering, etc.
