The Role The Community Inclusion Officer will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of effective strategies, partnerships and projects that increase access, inclusion, and participation across Ballarat. This role will: - build the capacity of the City of Ballarat to develop inclusive environments, programs, events, policies, and strategies,
- work in partnership with key stakeholders and networks,
- collaboratively promote access and inclusion, facilitate collaborative projects, and deliver grant funded programs,
- oversee the implementation, reporting and evaluation of the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DIAP).
- support the City of Ballarat's work in relation to gender equality and prevention of violence against women, particularly women and gender diverse people with disability.
The role will also work closely with the City of Ballarat Disability Advisory Committee, made up of residents with lived experience, those who work or volunteer with people with disability and those who have expertise in the area to ensure community members engage and participate in local decision-making with the City of Ballarat and across the broader Ballarat community. About You To be successful in this role, you will have extensive knowledge of community development, access and inclusion, universal design principles and the proven ability to effectively apply these within organisational and community contexts. You will have an understanding of equity and disadvantage in our community and experience communicating and influencing outcomes for the community. You will have demonstrated influencing skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, stakeholder engagement skills, together with strong project management skills.
