Community Engagement Officer
  • Permanent, Full Time position
  • Band 6 salary range from $82,922 - $89,577 per annum plus superannuation

City of Ballarat’s new model of Ageing Well Services provides social and community supports that aims to reduce social isolation, improve connectedness and the health and wellbeing of people 55 or older in the community.

An exciting job opportunity is available to lead the development and promotion of ageing well programs, ageism awareness activities, and community education sessions. These initiatives will promote lifelong learning opportunities, encourage community connectedness, and healthy ageing behaviours that align with the Ageing Well in Ballarat Strategy and community need.

You will be passionate, energetic and use your creative skills to develop and maintain Ageing Well Services platforms to increase community awareness of ageing well information that supports older people to be informed, engaged and active in their local community.

This role is ideally suited to someone with experience in community engagement or health promotion who enjoys engaging with the community and aged care, health and social services sectors to develop an understanding of the needs of older adults in Ballarat.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in Community Development, Health Promotion, Marketing and Promotions, or similar community engagement roles.
  • Experience developing content across social media and other communication platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbal and written messages effectively, logically and concisely to diverse internal and external audiences including wider community.
  • Demonstrated ability in community program design, implementation and review
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team to plan and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to develop and manage individual and team administrative functions and processes.
