The Role: Casual MCH roles are required in the Universal MCH program to provide flexible, family focused service to maximise the health potential of all children from birth to 6 years of age and their families. The role ensures high quality evidence-based practice with a focus on strengthening parenting capacity and empowering families to make optimal decisions related to their children’s health and development. The role is guided by the standards and frameworks of the Victorian MCH program (Dept. Of Health), and includes home visiting, first parent groups, KAS assessments and flexible service options. MCH nurses deliver health promotion through evidence-based education and information relating to all aspects of parenting including breast feeding, early learning, nutrition and immunization whilst contributing to relevant quality improvement and research projects within the Family, Youth and Children’s unit. About You: We are looking for Maternal and Child Health nurses who have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with families, colleagues, welfare and early year’s professionals. You are required to have current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse and a registered midwife, and a recognised post graduate Maternal and Child Health qualification for employment in Victoria. You will also need a current Victorian driver’s licence and Working with Children Check.
