Emergency Management Coordinator

You will assist in the development and enhancement of the City of Ballarat’s obligations under the Emergency Management Acts 1986 & 2013 and administer some aspects of the program on behalf of the Manager in partnership with the relevant emergency services.

The Coordinator will work with a range of Council and external stakeholders in the development and implementation of emergency management plans, documentation and associated arrangements such as the Heatwave Plan and Relief & Recovery Sub-Committee.


You will also be required to perform the role of Duty Recovery Manager on an on-call roster basis and may be required to work outside of normal business hours from time to time in response to emergency events.


This position is classified as Band 6 salary range between $81,777.70 to $88,340.96 per annum, plus 10% statutory superannuation.


We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the community and other stakeholders adopting a partnership approach.
  • High level skills in administration with an ability to work with Office 365 systems and a range of online platforms including CrisisWorks and EMCOP.
  • Logical application of ideas and strategies in relation to emergency management planning activities.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to changing circumstances and remain calm under pressure when faced with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • While experience in Emergency Management across the spectrum of mitigation, response and relief is preferred, ability to demonstrate initiative to learn and grow will be highly regarded


A current and valid driver's license is essential for this role.
